Rainbow Colours <strong>of</strong> InnovationRepublic Day Celebration<strong>Jan</strong>uary 26, <strong>2011</strong>The 'National <strong>and</strong> Institutional Event <strong>Management</strong>committee' (NIE 2010) at SPJIMR, under the aegis <strong>of</strong>the ADMAP programme organized the event as part <strong>of</strong>their learning process <strong>and</strong> pedagogic initiative.The Republic Day celebration at SPJIMR was based onthe 5 pillars <strong>of</strong> the Indian Constitution: Secular,Socialist, Sovereign, Democratic, Republic which arestill strong, valid <strong>and</strong> relevant, 61 years after theadoption <strong>of</strong> the Constitution.The event was preceded by collage <strong>and</strong> video makingcompetitions <strong>and</strong> a kite flying competition to enablestudents to grasp the nuances <strong>of</strong> team work <strong>and</strong>coordination. The event on 26th <strong>Jan</strong>uary began withhoisting the national flag by Hon. Dean Dr. M.L.Shrikant. This was followed by musical performancesto salute the nation. The play “Rightfully Right” broughtto the forefront the collective power <strong>of</strong> citizens inbringing about a change for the better. The event sawactive participation from the graduating batch <strong>of</strong>PGDM students who attended the event in full strength.The NIE team beautifully managed the event from theideation to its efficient execution.‘GYB’ ProgramApril 5, <strong>2011</strong>The Center for Entrepreneurship first launched theStart Your Business Program for aspiringentrepreneurs. This has been followed nowwith the Grow Your Business (GYB) Program(http://gyb.spjimr.org) for growth focusedentrepreneurs.An Entrepreneurial Manager needs diverse skill-set tosucceed. However, the skill-set varies depending onthe stage <strong>of</strong> the enterprise life cycle. The Grow YourBusiness Program addresses the <strong>Management</strong> gapthat typically address the transition <strong>of</strong> an entreprisefrom survival stage to growth stage.Danfoss India has drawn a 5 year vision document forthe Indian market which has the channel partnerplaying a key role. The marketing head <strong>of</strong> thecompany's PE division approached the Center forEntrepreneurship for an MDP that would equip thechannel partners with the KSAs to achieve the VisionMr Purshothaman, Regional Vice President-AsiaPacific, Danfoss Motion Controls Division was presentwhen the participants presented their individual visiondocuments. Pr<strong>of</strong> M Suresh Rao co-ordinated theprogram.Students performing on Republic DayGYB program with Danfoss IndiaLaunching PGCPDM in partnership with BAIFSPJIMR is stepping into enhancing education in thedevelopment sector. SPJIMR <strong>and</strong> BAIF have partneredto develop a Post Graduate CertificateProgramme in Development <strong>Management</strong>which will equip pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in the developmentsector with management skills that can be applied intheir existing work area <strong>and</strong> can prepare them forhigher level responsibilities. The course is scheduled tostart in the month <strong>of</strong> November this year (<strong>2011</strong>).22SPJIMRnews
