HarvestReaping Rich RewardsPGDM Placements <strong>2011</strong> – Reaching New HeightsSPJIMR completed yet another successful season <strong>of</strong>placements for the 178 participants <strong>of</strong> PGDM Class <strong>of</strong><strong>2011</strong> with 242 <strong>of</strong>fers from 76 companies.The Placement process saw <strong>of</strong>fers for lateral <strong>and</strong> freshhiring. The average salary increased by 27% to Rs.14.07 lacs per annum from last year, with the highestdomestic <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>of</strong> Rs. 23 lacs. 39% <strong>of</strong> the batch had<strong>of</strong>fers <strong>of</strong> Rs. 15 lacs <strong>and</strong> more. 59.5% <strong>of</strong> the batch hadsalaries <strong>of</strong> Rs.13 lacs <strong>and</strong> more. The median salary for177 students was 14 lacs. Foreign <strong>of</strong>fers were made byThomson Reuters <strong>and</strong> Deloitte.General <strong>Management</strong>: Tata AdministrativeServices, Adani Leadership Program, Mahindra &Mahindra, Reliance Industries <strong>and</strong> RPG Group madeabout 16 <strong>of</strong>fers in several middle managementpositions.Consulting/ IT Consulting: 19% <strong>of</strong> the batch wasplaced in leading Consulting firms including ArthurD'Little, Accenture Business Consulting (ABC), Deloitte,Ernst <strong>and</strong> Young, KPMG, PwC, CEB <strong>and</strong> TSMG.Deloitte picked up maximum numbers. Accenture forthe first time gave <strong>of</strong>fers for the Global Talent <strong>and</strong>Innovation Network team. IT consulting was <strong>of</strong>fered byCognizant Business Consulting (CBC) <strong>and</strong>Capgemini.Finance: The companies included JP Morgan, IIFL,St<strong>and</strong>ard Chartered, Citi Bank, Deutsche Bank, ICICIBank, Edelweiss, ICRA, Avista Advisory, SBI Caps,HSBC , Yes Bank, Axis Bank etc. Offers were receivedacross functions ranging from Investment Banking,Corporate Banking, Project Finance <strong>and</strong> CorporateFinance. The Multinational firms like Thomson Reutersmade exclusive <strong>of</strong>fers for their Global BusinessGraduate Program. 21.35% <strong>of</strong> the batch got <strong>of</strong>fers inthe Financial Services <strong>and</strong> Banking sector.IT/ITes: IT companies like Micros<strong>of</strong>t, HCLTechnologies <strong>and</strong> IBM <strong>of</strong>fered Sales roles. Corporate ITroles were <strong>of</strong>fered from business giants like GeneralElectric, Proctor <strong>and</strong> Gamble <strong>and</strong> Citibank. Other ITmajors included TCS, Wipro, Polaris, HP, Winshuttle, i-Gate.Marketing <strong>and</strong> Operations: The FMCG majorsincluded Procter & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever Ltd,Johnson & Johnson, Dabur, Asian Paints, Nestle,Marico, Britannia, Nivea <strong>and</strong> Wipro Consumer. For thefirst time HUL picked up a lateral hire from campus forthe supply chain division. Companies like Bharti Airtel,Philips, Novartis, CEAT <strong>and</strong> Titan <strong>of</strong>fered niche rolesacross diverse sectors. Companies like 3M, Cumminsvisiting for the first time made <strong>of</strong>fers. 23% <strong>of</strong> the batchgot <strong>of</strong>fers from FMCG majors.One student deferred participating in placements toexplore his own venture.Placement Report – PGPM 609 BatchThe Sixth Batch <strong>of</strong> PGPM with 84 participantscommenced in <strong>Jan</strong>uary 2010. 23 students specializedin operations management, 33 in informationmanagement, 17 in marketing <strong>and</strong> 13 in finance.The participants hailed from 38 leading companies<strong>and</strong> had rich experience in various domains like ITservices, BFSI, Health Care, Insurance, Aerospace <strong>and</strong>Automotive, ITES, SCM/Logistics, Telecom,Manufacturing, Power, Mining, Heavy Engineering etc.With experience ranging from 5 to 12 years, theybrought in excellent insight into diverse industries <strong>and</strong>business situations, thereby enhancing peer learning.The companies who participated in PGPM placements<strong>2011</strong> were Infosys, ICICI, TCS, Cognizant, Mc KinseyKnowledge Center, IBM, Cummins Technology India,Hunt Partners, Net Core, L&T, ITC, Frost & Sullivan <strong>and</strong>Welspun Corporation. The participants were <strong>of</strong>feredchallenging roles across domains.The placements were successfully completed with anaverage salary <strong>of</strong> Rs 14.21 Lakhs.
