3334444((4Your wives are your tilth; go, then, to yourtilth as you may desire, but first providesomething for your souls. Fear God andknow that you shall meet Him. Give thehappy news to the believers. (223)Do not allow your oaths in the name ofGod to become an obstacle to your beingkind and God-fearing, or to promotingpeace among people. God hears all andknows all. (224)God shall not take you to task for oathswhich you may have uttered withoutthought, but He will take you to task forwhat your hearts have conceived in earnest.God is much-Forgiving, Forbearing. (225)Those who take an oath that they will notapproach their wives shall have four monthsof grace. If they go back on their oaths,God is much-Forgiving, Merciful; (226)and if they are resolved on divorce, [letthem remember that] God hears all andknows all. (227)Divorced women shall wait, by themselves,for three monthly courses. It is unlawful forthem to conceal what God might havecreated in their wombs, if they believe inGod and the Last Day. During thisperiod, their husbands are entitled to takethem back, if they desire reconciliation.Women shall, in all fairness, enjoy rightssimilar to those exercised against them,although men have an advantage over them.God is Almighty, Wise.
