Figure 26The haunching area is the most important in terms of limiting the deflectionof a flexible pipe. The haunch area is illustrated in Figure 25. The haunchingshould be placed in 4- to 6-inch lifts and compacted in accordance withTable 8. Because of the shape of the pipe and space restrictions in thetrench, special care must be taken to fill any voids and obtain propercompaction in the haunch area.
