Seal-Tite is a coupling device with a gasket formed into the body of thedevice. Seal-Tite fits over the exterior of the full height corrugation and turnsa plain-end piece of pipe into a belled pipe. Stainless steel bands tightenon top of the corrugations to form a watertight coupler. This field coupler isavailable for sizes from 24 inches to 48 inches.Watertight Repair Option C – Internal Sealing RingsRepairs to the interior of the pipe can be accomplished using internalsealing rings. Internal sealing rings are mechanical seals that are comprisedof two or three stainless steel expansion rings and a rubber gasket. Thereare limitations on the width of the rubber gaskets; therefore, the size of thedamaged area of pipe is somewhat limited. Contact a qualified engineer formore information.Watertight Repair Option D – Chemical GroutingThis method is used to repair joints in place with a chemical grout. Thismethod is commonly used to repair sanitary sewer joints and requires acontractor with specialized equipment. Chemical grout is forced from theinside of the pipe through a leaking pipe joint in a liquid form and sets up toform a flexible seal. The flexible seal forms a collar around the exterior of thejoint and seals within the pipe joint.Limitations for this repair method include:• Sizes of chemical grout injection equipment (grout plugs).• Access to the interior of the pipe.Watertight Repair Option E – Welding PipePipe can be repaired by welding damaged areas. Typically the repair methodis restricted to the interior of the pipe but welding the exterior of the pipecan also be performed. This repair work is performed by a contractor withspecialized equipment.68 EAGLE CORR PE INSTALLATION GUIDE
