• Medicine and Health Sciences• Engineering• Tourism and HospitalityThe selection of these three disciplines of study is to support the NKEA initiatives in Education thattarget the development of several groups of disciplines, including the three disciplines of educationmentioned above.The implementation of Quality Assurance CAP during the period of 2011-2015 is expected to have animpact on the quality of programmes and HEIs. Accreditation programmes will give confidence tointerested parties within and outside the country about the quality of programmes, as well as presentbenefits for students to possess qualifications from programmes that have been accredited. Throughinstitutional and educational discipline-based ratings, HEIs can remain competitive, responsible and willcontinue to achieve higher levels of quality.The Memorandum of International Cooperation will enhance the role MQA plays at the internationallevel and increasing global understanding of the processes and procedures for quality assurance.This will increase the transmissibility of qualifications and the mobility of Malaysian students to foreigncountries.For the Quality Assurance CAP to succeed the following factors should be considered:• As the implementing agency, MQA requires strong and continuous support from Ministriesand related policy-making agencies.• To foster closer partnership with all stakeholders, especially with Higher Education Providers(PPT) regarding quality assurance.• PPT’s commitment and cooperation are important especially in securing certificates ofaccreditation for all programmes offered and to provide data in SETARA implementationand other audit exercises.• PPT cultivates quality assurance practices and takes proactive measures in its implementationto improve the quality of higher education.• To achieve some KPIs, additional funding is required as the cost of implementation ishigh.The National Higher Education Action Plan 2011 - 201567
