This Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machine
is now a prized property of F.A.G. Machine Shop
and Services Co. And this was made possible by a
government project, the Small Enterprise Technology
Upgrading Program (SET-UP) of the Department of
Science and Technology (DOST). Aimed at providing
technology through the acquisition of equipment, an
innovation system support fund allows SMEs to
purchase equipment needed to improve their
productivity and efficiency. F.A.G. is just one of
the many SME beneficiaries in Region 7.
F.A.G. is the initials of the name of its owner,
Felix A. Gabiana, a Mechanical Engineer, who
established a Machine Shop to initially service the
requirements of the company where he was
originally employed. F.A.G is a light Engineering
and Metalworking company which manufactures
molds, nozzles/inner pins, mandrels and fabricates
steel made auxiliary equipment, such as bins, racks,
carts, and loaders. The main products are toolings
(mandrel and nozzle) which are high precision
products.
Assistance in SET-UP was sought in 2003 specifically
for the acquisition of one milling and two lathe
machines. For the many years that F.A.G. has been
in the business, it has serviced different industries
making itself known for high quality fabrication and
on time delivery. The higher goal of the company to
widen its machining capacity to further strengthen its

competence is made possible by the DOST program.
With these new machines, accuracy is achieved
thereby lessening the percentage of rejects. Downtime
is reduced from 40% to 20% of production time
and sales doubled.
With this proven success, the possibility of expanding
the business was considered. Though expansion was
not included in the original plan, a bigger site was a
possibility. Balamban became an ideal site for such
a plan being the home of Tsuneishi, a ship building
company requiring engineering and metalworking
services. The expansion plan was implemented and
Tsuneishi is now one of its many clients.
After completing its payments to DOST, F.A.G.
applied for the second time in another program of
DOST, Venture Financing, for the acquisition of a
Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machine.
Mass production and production of parts with
irregular forms can now be done by this machine.
Complemented by the present skills of its workers,
this machine will make orders easy to complete.
Dedon’s accessories for furniture, Lexmark’s regular
accessories and components for its maintenance,
maintenance of PASAR’s smelting equipment, as
well as the machines that make Funchum and those
of Tsuneishi’s - all these companies have one thing
in common, they are the satisfied clients of F.A.G.
