ACADEMIC AND PRE-PROFESSIONAL ADVISING CENTERContributions Toward Divisional GoalsGoals > Progress Toward GoalsSupport student learning, personal development, andacademic success.•Conducted workshops for students who were suspended,dismissed, and not eligible to petition.•Developed and implemented new course retake policy.•Wrote 326 committee letters and linkage recommendations,25 noncommittee health and early medical educationletters, and 22 law school dean’s certifications.•Reviewed students’ degree progress reports and maderegular outreach to students who were not making degreeprogress.•Held regular staff meetings, monthly Committee onAcademic Advising meetings, and semi-annual staff retreatsto collect feedback on the effectiveness of new policies andprocedures and focus on new initiatives.Develop the next generation of leaders by creating opportunitiesfor student involvement, leadership, community service,and internships.•Sponsored three undergraduate and one graduate internfrom the School of Social Welfare.•Created an Academic Peer Advisor (APA) course designator(ADV 488) to better reflect the nature of the internship anddeveloped senior APA roles.•Tracked and monitored Academic Peer Advisor interns toensure their academic success. <strong>Student</strong>s maintained journalsof their experiences, which helped inform the Center’sadvising practices.Promote a vibrant, inclusive community.•Worked to ensure the smooth transition of the Southamptonundergraduates to West Campus, including on-siteadvising, class registration, and orientation for studentsand parents.•Continued to teach the eight-week Academic AdvisingCertificate Course each semester.
