EUFEPS Newsletter, 1992, vol 1, issue 1 EUFEPS First Newsletter Ernst Mutschler, Professor President of The European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences Dear Members, With this first Newsletter, which will be followed by more on a regular basis (three per year), the EUFEPS Executive Committee would like to inform you of our present and future activities and also to ask you for your personal contributions. We would like you, whenever possible, to participate in the activities arranged by EUFEPS, to inform us about your own national organisation and its scientific activities, to give us your suggestions as well as your critical views, and to inform other pharmaceutical scientists of our organization and its goals. Only through initiative and active cooperation between the members can our federation develop successfully and become the desired link of international cooperation and scientific exchange between scientists. In this connection, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in the 1st European Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which takes place on October 7–9, 1992 in Amsterdam. Our Dutch colleagues have enthusiastically put together an attractive program with prominent speakers, and we are sure that the participants will find the congress interesting and worth attending. Since the inaugural meeting in Strasbourg, the Executive Committee has taken a number of initiatives. The Committee on Industrial Relations was established and its first meeting was held in Brussels. We expect this Committee to generate an active exchange of ideas between the universities and the research based pharmaceutical industry. The establishment of the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences – the scientific journal of the Federation – will be of special significance. Our Scandinavian colleagues are in favour of merging the Acta Pharmaceutica Nordica with the new journal, which would create a good opportunity for a successful start for our journal. I The saying “The beginning is always difficult” is also valid for a new scientific organisation.
