Apply ostomy paste to skin around tubes to facilitate<br />

molding. Moisten gloved finger when applying<br />

by pulling on pouch after application. Position of<br />

applying skin prep and allowing it to dry.<br />

11. Cap bottom of bag or connect to continuous<br />

PROCEDURE: e. Instructions given to patient/caregiver.<br />

1. Adhere to Universal Precautions.<br />

2. Explain procedure to patient.<br />

3. Prepare equipment at bedside.<br />

4. Pattern wafer to 1/8" larger than stoma, remove<br />

paper backing and set aside.<br />

5. Drain and remove existing appliance from the<br />

patient, saving the valve adaptor if one is used. Be<br />

careful not to pull on tubes.<br />
