Content and Item DevelopmentContent SpecificationSTAR Early Literacy Enterprise consists of 2,120 operational items that align to aset of early literacy skills derived from exemplary state standards as well as theCommon Core State Standards and current research.Since the initial 2001 release of STAR Early Literacy 1.0, it has been a 25-item adaptivetest of early literacy skills. From 2001 until the development of the Enterprise version,STAR Early Literacy has included test items measuring 7 literacy domains and 41subordinate preliteracy and early literacy skill sets; STAR Early Literacy Enterprisecontent is organized into 3 domains, 10 sub-domains, and 41 skill sets.The content of the STAR Early Literacy Enterprise item bank is based in part onextensive analysis of existing curricula and standards. The content of the STAREarly Literacy Enterprise item bank is aligned to and substantially influenced bythe recently developed Common Core State Standards.Items are organized into sub-domains that are similar to widely accepted earlyliteracy standards.
