He is also a barrister(Lincoln’s Inn, London) and an advocate at the Supreme Court ofBangladesh (High Court Division). He has recently been appointed –following an election – as the Indigenous Expert Member from the Asiaregion <strong>to</strong> the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues for its 2011-2013term.Myrna SafitriMyrna Safitri is an executive direc<strong>to</strong>r of EpistemaInstitute, Jakarta. She obtained her PhD in Law,Governance and Development from LeidenUniversity, with a specific research <strong>to</strong>pic on foresttenure and community forestry. She has been activelyinvolved in law reform movements, particularly onforestry, with several Indonesian CSOs. She is thefounder of HuMa – an association for community andecological based law reform. Myrna was a legaldrafter of the Indonesian bill of natural resourcemanagement at the Ministry of Environment and shewas involved in the making of the Indonesian National Strategy on Access<strong>to</strong> <strong>Justice</strong> at the National Development Planning Agency. Recently, shebecame a member of the UNDP expert panel on participa<strong>to</strong>ry governanceassessment on REDD+. In addition <strong>to</strong> this she also teaches at the Universityof Indonesia and President University.160
