Form: Creep<strong>in</strong>g perennial plant 6-24 <strong>in</strong>. (15-60 cm) long,<br />

root<strong>in</strong>g at nodes. Often forms mats.<br />

Leaves: Opposite or whorled, oval, ½-1 <strong>in</strong>. (1-2.5 cm) long.<br />

Glabrous, fleshy, and somewhat cordate at <strong>the</strong> base.<br />

Flowers/fruit: Flowers May-August. Yellow flowers about<br />

1 <strong>in</strong>. (2.5 cm) wide, long stalked, solitary <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> axils. Fruit a<br />

capsule.<br />

Habitat: Streambanks, river bot<strong>to</strong>ms, ditches, and roadsides.<br />
