well-known Master say that theonly reason anyone would shootLimited was because they couldnot win in Open. Then "WE"made it profitable to shoot inLimited division and the verysame Master now has won tophonors in both divisions. Limiteddivision did not do what itwas created to do, or we wouldnot be reading the stuff that isin the works now. Do we wishto make the same mistakesagain? Whatever the problemthat you are trying to fix, a newdivision or class won't do it. Ifyou make it good enough to beworth the trouble, then the winas-much-as-possiblepeople willtake it over and the cry babieswill start whining again.Just who are the people whoare complaining anyway? Whatare they really complainingabout? Single-stackers? Recreationalshooters? Old, fat andslow shooters? Who are theyand why do they think theyshould win? Do you think weshould change things so thatpeople with inferior equipmentand less ability should win? Ifthat is your way of thinking,they have a place for you in theSpecial Olympics. I happen tobe an old, fat, recreationalshooter who never could run a10 second 100 yard dash in theprime of my life. I don't have achance of ever winning, but Ihave fun. That is why it is recreational.Fun is what willbring new shooters into oursport. More divisions will justmake the people who can winthe divisions we already havebe able to win in another division,too.I overheard one shooter saysomething to the effect of, "Ijust want a level playing field."I don't think he ever looked ata playing field before. They arenot level. They have crowns inthem. The ground is not leveland the players are not thesame size nor of the same ability.If the field has lanes, someonehas the outside and someoneelse has the inside. Life isnot fair. All men are not equal.Not all people have the sameopportunity. The only thingthat fits everyone is toilet paper,and some of us need moreof that than others.I can offer a solution to a lotof our problems. Cheaters,sandbaggers, and sore losers allare caused by one thing—thewill to win! So the answer tothe problems of USPSA is easy.Quit keeping score. Then thecheaters and sandbaggers couldjust run the course of fire to thebest of their ability and not thefirst person would be upset.
