3.4. "Driver mass" means the nominal mass of a driver that shall be 75 kg (subdividedinto 68 kg occupant mass at the seat and 7 kg luggage mass in accordance withISO standard 2416-1992)3.5. General requirementsThe components liable to affect the emission of gaseous pollutants, carbon dioxideemissions and fuel consumption shall be so designed, constructed and assembled asto enable the vehicle in normal use, despite the vibration to which it may besubjected, to comply with the provisions of this regulation.5. Performance requirementsThis Alternate Mass Emission standards BSIII ( Bharat Stage III) based on WorldwideHarmonised Motorcycle Emissions Certification Procedure WMTC ( Worldwide MotorcycleTest Cycle) details given in Rule no. 115(Sub Rule 14) (H) of CMVR, as amended from timeto time for Gasoline vehicles shall be applicable as notified by the MoRTH Government ofIndia5.1 Type I Test : Verifying the average tailpipe emission5.2 Type II Test : Test for Carbon Monoxide & Hydrocarbons emissions at Idling speed5.3 Conformity of Production :As prescribed in Clause 8,Chapter 1, Part XIII of this document6. Test conditions6.1. Test room and soak area6.1.1. Test roomThe test room with the chassis dynamometer and the gas sample collection device,shall have a temperature of 298 K ± 5 K (25 °C ± 5 °C). The room temperature shallbe measured twice in the vicinity of vehicle cooling blower (fan), both before andafter the Type I test.
6.1.2. Soak areaThe soak area shall have a temperature of 298 K ± 5 K (25 °C ± 5 °C) and be able topark the test vehicle (motorcycle) to be preconditioned in accordance withparagraph 7.2.4.6.2. Test vehicle (motorcycle)6.2.1. General6.2.2. Run-inThe test vehicle shall conform in all its components with the production series, or, ifthe motorcycle is different from the production series, a full description shall begiven in the test report. In selecting the test vehicle, the manufacturer and testauthority shall agree which motorcycle test model is representative for related familyof vehicles.The motorcycle must be presented in good mechanical condition. It must have beenrun in and driven at least 1,000 km before the test. The engine, transmission andmotorcycle shall be properly run-in, in accordance with the manufacturer’srequirements.6.2.3. AdjustmentsThe motorcycle shall be adjusted in accordance with the manufacturer’srequirements, e.g. the viscosity of the oils, or, if the motorcycle is different from theproduction series, a full description shall be given in the test report.6.2.4. Test mass and load distribution6.2.5. TyresThe total test mass including the masses of the rider and the instruments shall bemeasured before the beginning of the tests. The distribution of the load between thewheels shall be in conformity with the manufacturer’s instructions.The tyres shall be of a type specified as original equipment by the vehiclemanufacturer. The tyre pressures shall be adjusted to the specifications of themanufacturer or to those where the speed of the motorcycle during the road test andthe motorcycle speed obtained on the chassis dynamometer are equalized. The tyrepressure shall be indicated in the test report.6.3. Vehicle classification6.3.1. Class 1Figure 6-1 gives an overview of the vehicle classification in terms of engine capacityand maximum vehicle speed. The numerical values of the engine capacity andmaximum vehicle speed shall not be rounded up or down.Vehicles that fulfil the following specifications belong to class 1:50 cm³ < engine capacity < 150 cm³ and vmax ≤ 50 km/hor class 1
