(2) No performer shall be required to sign a contract of employment atan audition. Employment, if any, shall not be contingent upon travel to theTheatre location for an audition or a callback.(3) Equal Employment Opportunity.(a)Affirmation.(i) The Producer <strong>and</strong> Equity affirm their commitment to apolicy of equal employment opportunities designed topromote the elimination of discrimination <strong>and</strong> to project apositive model of equal employment <strong>and</strong> multiethnic diversitywithin all theatres. Consistent with the foregoing, it is theintent of the parties that the selection <strong>and</strong> casting of plays<strong>and</strong> the hiring of Stage Managers shall be conducted in amanner that provides fair employment to ethnic minorityperformers (African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans,Asian/Asian-Pacific Americans, Native Americans), women,senior performers, <strong>and</strong> performers with disabilities.(ii) The Producer agrees that the casting of allproductions shall be conducted in a manner that provides full<strong>and</strong> fair consideration to ethnic minorities, women, seniorperformers, <strong>and</strong> performers with disabilities. Further, activesolicitation of ethnic minority performers, women, seniorperformers, <strong>and</strong> performers with disabilities shall be evidentin all ads, notices, calls, <strong>and</strong> cast breakdowns to agents <strong>and</strong>casting directors in order to ensure their participation in thecasting process.(iii) In addition, the Producer <strong>and</strong> Equity shall encouragemultiracial, multiethnic productions <strong>and</strong> the use of a flexible<strong>and</strong> imaginative casting policy known as “non-traditionalcasting”. Non-traditional casting is designed to increaseemployment for ethnic minority performers, womenperformers, senior performers, <strong>and</strong> performers withdisabilities by the casting of these individuals in roles forwhich race, gender, age, or the presence or absence of adisability is not absolutely essential to the play or thecharacter’s development.(iv) It is the intent of the Producer <strong>and</strong> Equity thatauditions for all roles shall be held without regard to age,gender, race, color, ethnic origin, creed, physicalimpairment, political persuasion or belief, or sexualorientation.(b) When a role being cast depicts a person with a specificdisability, the Producer agrees to include that fact in the castingspecifications <strong>and</strong> also to notify Equity of such specifications so that8
