The fastswitching time of the IGBTdevices used in newer AFDscan cause a transmission lineeffect in the output powerleads to the motor, leading topossibly damaging voltagelevels. To meet this need,NEMA has introduced amotor in MG1, Part 31, whichprovides an insulation systemdesigned to maintain normalmotor life in AFDapplications. For existingmotors, a motor protectionscheme is required for longercable runs. Eaton offers threestandard solutions for existingsystems.●MotoRx This solutionprovides an energyrecovery system whichclamps the peak motorvoltage to a safe levelfor standard motors.
