THE INCREDIBLE HUMAN POTENTIAL 105by m u! tiple generations <strong>of</strong> Israelites, that, even given KNOWLEDGE<strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong>'s government and way <strong>of</strong> life, the carnal mind will not -and therefore cannot - solve its problems, live in peace, happiness,joy, and eterna! salvation.However, humans will not o bey <strong>God</strong>'s w A Y to peace, happiness,and eterna! joy without the addition <strong>of</strong> a second Spirit to the"human" spirit.<strong>The</strong> experience <strong>of</strong> multiple generations <strong>of</strong> Israelites, PROVEOthat the natural mind <strong>of</strong> man is hostile to <strong>God</strong> - not subject to thelaw <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong>, which is THE w A Y to peace, happiness, and abundance.Adam and Eve had been instructed by <strong>God</strong> in Hrs WAY. <strong>The</strong>yrejected it, and turned to the WA Y <strong>of</strong> SELF-centeredness - <strong>of</strong> vanity,lust and greed - <strong>of</strong> jealousy and envy - <strong>of</strong> com petition, strife,violence and destruction.But in Old Covenant Israel, <strong>God</strong> REVEALED to them, throughMoses and the prophets, the KNOWLEDGE <strong>of</strong><strong>God</strong>'s WAY.WHY, then, Old Covenant Israel?<strong>The</strong>y were left without excuse. <strong>The</strong>y were, in Adam, a physicalcreation - but without the SPIRITUAL creation, which cancome only through Christ the "Second Adam," they simply wouldnot live the way <strong>of</strong> life that produces peace and universal wellbeing.I repeat, they were without excuse! lt was MAN - the firstAdam - who thought he could live a more happy life, without<strong>God</strong>'s Spirit, which he spurned.<strong>God</strong> sent to Old Covenant Israelites His prophets, bearingHis admonitions, PLEADING with them. <strong>The</strong>y stoned many <strong>of</strong> theirprophets to death!Through the prophet Jeremiah, <strong>God</strong> pleaded: "Return, thoubacksliding Israel, saith the [Eterna!], and I will not cause mineanger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the [Eterna!].. . . . Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressedagainst the [Eterna!] thy <strong>God</strong>, and hast scattered thy waysto the strangers [Gentile nations] under every green tree, and yehave not obeyed my voice, saith the [Eterna!].""Turn," <strong>God</strong> continued, "O backsliding children, saith the[Eterna!], for I am married to you ..." (Jer. 3:12-14).
