And WHY is salvation a PROCESS, as well as an inilialphase when he becomes a Christian inslantaneously?Here is the PLAIN TRUTH you need lo know.Real Repentance1 repeat: "A Christian [a lruly converled person] is one who hasreceived, and in whose mind dwells the Holy Spirit <strong>of</strong><strong>God</strong>."But how does one receive lhe Spirit <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong>?On the da y the <strong>Church</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> was starled, lhe Aposlle Petersaid, "Repent, and be baptized ... in the name <strong>of</strong> Jesus Chrisl forthe remission <strong>of</strong> sins, and ye shall receive lhe gift <strong>of</strong> the Holy[Spirit]" (Acts 2:38).Repent <strong>of</strong> what? Of sin. And what is sin? "Sin is lhe lransgression<strong>of</strong> the law" (1 John 3:4). What law? <strong>The</strong> law that the carnalmind, hostile to <strong>God</strong>, is not subjecl lo - the Law <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong>(Rom. 8:7). Again, we read <strong>of</strong>"the Holy [Spiril], whom <strong>God</strong> hathgiven to them that obey him" (Acts 5:32).<strong>The</strong>se are the two conditions lo receiving <strong>God</strong>'s GIFT <strong>of</strong> lheHoly Spirit: repentance and faith. Being baplized is lhe oulwardmanifestation <strong>of</strong> lhe inner faith in Christ. Repenlance is nolmerely being sorry for something one has done - or even manysuch sins. lt is a real repentance <strong>of</strong> what one is and has been - <strong>of</strong>his whole pasl attitude and life apart from <strong>God</strong>. lt is a total change<strong>of</strong> mind and heart and direction <strong>of</strong> life. lt is a change to a neww A Y OF LIFE. lt is a turning from lhe self-cenlered way <strong>of</strong> vanily,
