Only eleven chapters aredevoted to the history of all that span of time. The account of thefi.rst created couple is merely the briefest possible summary.The fi.rst humans were the last act of creation on the sixth da yof what is commonly called "creation week," recorded in the fi.rstchapter of Genesis.God had created plant life - the flora - on the third day ofthat week, animal life - the fauna - on the fi.fth and sixth, eachreproducing "after its own kind." Cattle reproduced after thecattle kind (verse 25), lions after the lion kind, horses after thehorse kind, etc.Then God said, "Let us make man in our image. after ourlikeness." In other words, "Let us make MAN after the GOD kind!"God was actually reproducing Himself!And notice, the name God - the Hebrew name as originallywritten throughout Genesis 1, is Elohim. lt is a uniplural noun,like family, group, church. lt is ONE family composed of morethan one person. lt is like one team, one church, but each composedof multiple persons. The God to whom Jesus prayed is theF ATHER of the F AMILY that is Goo. God /S a FAMILY - but ONEfamily, ONEGoo."So God created man in his own image, in the image of Godcreated he him, maJe and female created he them." WHY? Becausehuman reproduction is the type of God's reproducing Himself.And physical reproduction requires both maJe and female.
