THE INCREDIBLE HUMAN POTENTIAL 107shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall cal! his name Immanuel"(lsa. 7: 14).Now see this prophecy fulfilled in the New Testament: Anangel appeared to Joseph, fiancé <strong>of</strong> Mary the mother <strong>of</strong> Jesus:"Joseph," he said, "thou son <strong>of</strong> David, fear not to take untothee Mary thy (espoused] wife: for that which is conceived in heris <strong>of</strong> the Holy [Spirit]. And she shall bring forth a son, and thoushalt cal! his name JEsus: for he shall save his people from theirsins. Now al! this was done, that it might be fulfilled which wasspoken <strong>of</strong> the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold a virgin shallbe with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call hisname Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, <strong>God</strong> with us" (Matt.l :20-23).This prophecy reveals Christ as SA VIOR.And so was born JEsus - the SECOND ADAM! Begotten <strong>of</strong><strong>God</strong> befare His human birth - as no other had been. He wasGoo as well as man - Goo with us - Goo made human so that,as a human, He could die (Heb. 2:9) for humans! Y es, Goo in thelikeness <strong>of</strong> human ftesh, who could overcome Satan the formerKing Lucifer, thus qualifying to restare the GOVERNMENT OF Gooto earth!Satan tried to destroy Jesus soon after birth - befare Hecould grow up to qualify and announce the KINGDOM OF Goo!But <strong>God</strong> protected the Christ-child, causing Joseph and Mary t<strong>of</strong>tee with Him to Egypt - until Herod, provincial Roman kingover Judea, was dead."And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled withwisdom ..." (Luke 2:40). Jesus was endowed with the Holy Spirit<strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> from birth.1 ha ve said that, as the "prince <strong>of</strong> the power <strong>of</strong> the air," Satansubtilely and invisibly injects into human minds through the"human" spirit his attitude <strong>of</strong> hostile rebellion. Satan begins implantingthis carnal attitude as early in life as the child begins toabsorb knowledge and to think. But the growing child Jesus, filledwith Goo's Spirit, resisted from infancy this magnetic "pull" wecal! human nature.Jesus never had a carnal mind, hostile against <strong>God</strong>. Hismind, from earliest childhood, was subject to the law <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong>.
