Individuals are not only using stolen vehicles in exchangefor drugs, but are involved in a continuous rental <strong>of</strong> the car for cash until the vehicle isfound by the police. With the help <strong>of</strong> modern surveillance resources such as licenseplate reader recognition systems, these vehicles can easily be detected.The <strong>of</strong>fice not only collaborates with local agencies to make arrests andprosecute cases, but also investigates connections to other cases pending prosecution.As previously mentioned, motor vehicle theft crimes tend to occur in conjunction withother crimes, such as drug crimes. Many <strong>of</strong> the suspects or potential witnesses thosecases also have other cases pending within the county.
