REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 834. That Synod approve the reappointments of Drew and Lynne Gordon tothe positions of Directors of Publications for a three year term beginningJanuary 1: 1997.5. The Synod grant $90,000 in 1996 and $90,000 in 1997 from theRPMscM to the Board of Education and Publication.The report of the Trustees of the Theological Seminary was takenup. Items 1 and 2 were adopted. In keeping with these items. Synodwas led in prayer by Walter Swartz and proceeded to the vote onthese professors. Item 3 was referred to the Committee on Finance.Items 4 and 5 were referred to the Nominating Committee. Item 6was adopted.Synod took a fifteen-minute recess at 10:30 a.m.Synod returned from the break singing Psalm 31A and being ledin prayer by the Moderator.The order of the day, the preparation for elections was taken up.The Nominating Committee presented its nominations andnominations were received from the floor.The offering for Synod was taken in the amount of $720.25 andRobert Tweed led in prayer.Synod returned to consideration of the report of the Board ofTrustees of the Theological Seminary. In keeping with item 6 of thereport, Jerry O'Neill, President of the Theological Seminary,addressed the court. The seminary election results were announcedwith both professors being re-elected by a clear majority. Thefollowing motion was adopted: That Synod recognize ProfessorRachel George with a letter of appreciation from the Moderator inrecognition of loving, faithful, kind and professional service to theSeminary, denomination and thankful students both past and present,and that Synod present Professor Rachel George a bouquet of flowersalong with the letter of appreciation as a tangible sign of Synod'sappreciation at the Seminary's first chapel service of the 1995 fallsemester.
