<strong>Kunming</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Botany</strong>, <strong>Chinese</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> SciencesAnnual Report(1) Established an internationally leadingwild species germplasm resources preservationsystem. This germplasm bank is currently one <strong>of</strong>two preservation facilities constructed in line withinternational preservation standards in the world. It isinternationally leading in respect <strong>of</strong> species collection,species identification, seed cleaning, storage andgermination test, culture in vitro and DNA libraryoperation. Its refrigeration and drying room is worldlevel.(2) Created and developed 3E principle forgermplasm resources collection and preservationpriority. Researchers systematically collectedand researched endangered species protected atthe national level, especially endemic speciesand germplasm resources with economic orscientific, ecological, cultural, religious values.They scientifically collected and preserved 156799accessions <strong>of</strong> 13148 species <strong>of</strong> wild speciesgermplasm resources in China (especially inSouthwest China, Tibet Plateau and Northwest AridArea), including 53344 accessions <strong>of</strong> 7471 species <strong>of</strong>wild plant seeds.(3) Established and innovated the germplasmresources exchange and sharing system andtechnology. Researchers scientifically classifiedwild species germplasm resources and establishedthe mode <strong>of</strong> “graded sharing” through agreementor contract to achieve sharing <strong>of</strong> information andobjects.This research result was extensivelyinfluential and produced obvious social benefitsdomestically and overseas.
