Ittells us that a scholar shall not only concentrate onresearches, but also be concerned with what happensin our life and in the world. It holds true for us. Asresearchers, we shall focus on research, and also payattention to changes in the world to keep the directionof development and especially make contributions tothe flourishing of China. 2011 was the beginning ofthe national "12th five-year" plan and the "Innovation2020" plan of KIB, and in 2012 we comprehensivelycarried out these plans. During the past year,according to "135" goals of the Institute and the "12thfive-year" plan, we adjusted the structure of researchgroups. In terms of discipline construction, talentteams, infrastructure building and other business, wemade great achievements. You can find key data inthe english website of KIB. With efforts for the pastyear, we have taken a solid step towards the generaltarget of "Innovation 2020" and the construction ofa "regionally typical and internationally influentialinstitute with great contributions".The ringing bell knocks on the door of the newyear. No matter how changeable or bustling, nomatter how wandering or pleasant after adaptationand achievements, 2012 is fading away. Whenthe sun rises above the horizon next time, 2013 iscoming with all unknowns and hopes. We will movetowards a key year of realizing the "Innovation2020" plan, and welcome the 75th anniversary ofKIB. Generations of botany workers have spentmore than 27000 days in Yuanbao Hill by HeilongLake, witnessing and creating sinicization of thewestern botany and the development of Chinesebotany. As the 18th National Congress proposed thegeneral requirement of "5-1 development" coveringeconomic construction, political construction, culturalconstruction, social construction and ecologicalprogress, the business of KIB becomes an integralpart of the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation."Set sail and forge ahead under motionless waves;march forward valiantly when shouldering heavyresponsibilities". In the wave of national rejuvenation,we shall brace our heart, lay solid foundation, lookforward in hope and implement the new round ofreforms.
