PurposeThis strategic guidance document intends to serve three main purposes:• To provide a UK-wide inventory <strong>of</strong> p<strong>on</strong>d furniture detailing <strong>the</strong> types, volumes <strong>and</strong>known or assumed radiological classificati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> waste. This will allow foridentificati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> synergies <strong>and</strong> opportunities for c<strong>on</strong>solidated waste treatment across<strong>the</strong> NDA estate, as well as providing <strong>the</strong> supply chain with better clarity <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> nature<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> predicted arisings <strong>of</strong> p<strong>on</strong>d furniture to inform future service provisi<strong>on</strong> or elseimprovements to current service provisi<strong>on</strong>.• To provide a compilati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> current <strong>and</strong> credible near-term futureapproaches being employed within <strong>the</strong> NDA estate for management <strong>of</strong> p<strong>on</strong>d furniture.This is to enable sharing <strong>of</strong> informati<strong>on</strong>, best practice <strong>and</strong> less<strong>on</strong>s learned; <strong>and</strong> toenable <strong>the</strong> identificati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> synergies <strong>and</strong> opportunities between sites.
