MEANING :Meditate the Lord as the one with the lotus in his navel, his eyes resembling the petals of a lotus and himself beingthe child of the lotus; the one who sustains the body, developsas the body, develops as the soul and Himself, the developedform. He is the one with the grand eye (the sun) and hasGaruda (the great eagle) as his banner.Explanation :1. His navel unfolds as the lotus at the dawn of everycreation. This is a symbolic representation of the link betweennature as mother and the Lord as the child with the unfoldingconsciousness which starts its career as Brahma, the creator. Inthe beginning, everyone will have his birth with the connectionbetween the mother and the child which we call the umbilicus. For the human beings, the navel represents Manipuraka Chakra(the solar plexus) which functions as the brain of emotions. Fromthe stage of emotions, the child is to develop through the intellectand soul as the spirit himself. All this is embedded in the folds ofthe navel which were formed, while the child is yet to be born.Similarly the grand space begins to function as the aggregate ofmany folds of consciousness which lay as the various layers evenbefore the birth of Brahma, the creator.2. The comparision of the Lord’s eyes with the petals of alotus symbolises the heliotropic nature of the whole creator.3. Just as the space embedded in the bud of a lotus isoriginally the space unbound which was there before the birth ofthe lotus, so also Brahma the creator is the Lord Himself whomakes his first manifestation as the finite one, Brahma. Thus theLord Him-self takes His first manifestation as His own sonBrahma. That is why the Lord is described as the son of the lotus.146
