Amritha is the spirit of immortality that is experienced bythe devas as their food. Since the devas work as principles in thebodies and the universes and since they do not themselves live inmatter, mind or form, they have neither birth nor death. Instead,they have manifestation and disappearance. Hence their existenceis immortal and their experience is immortality which we call bliss.The spirit of immortality is the Lord Himself.3. Soma is The name of a plant. The name of a Gandharvawho presides over the cosmic rhythm or music that causes theemerging and merging of the universes. Among the individuals,he presides over the sense of periodicity, frequency and beat. Thefaculty of music is governed by him along with Indra. Both ofthem are located for their fuctions in the penial gland. Among theplanetary gods, he is the same who is known as Neptune in themythology as well as astrology. In the Vedas, he is known as theLord of aesthetic sense and romance, whose influence is reflectedupon the beings of the earth through the Moon.195
