2010-20112011PASCAL Students in the 4 th Annual EuropeanYouth Parliament CyprusStudents of PASCAL English School Lefkosia participated inthe 4 th National Session of the European Youth Parliamentwhich took place in Larnaca between the 2 nd – 5 th of September.The topic of this year’s session was combating SocialExclusion in Europe.The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a unique and interestingforum specially designed to engage young people inpolitical debate, intercultural encounters and raise theirawareness of European issues. The students engaged inteambuilding activities, committee work and formal debategiving them the opportunity to voice their opinions and beliefs.They were even able to discuss the topic of Social Exclusionand the Lisbon Treaty with key figures from theEuropean Parliament Office in Cyprus and the EuropeanCommission in Cyprus. It was an enticing weekend whichthe students enjoyed and gained much from.PASCAL English School students atthe MEDIM.U.N ConferenceStudents from PASCAL English School Lefkosia took part,once again, in the The Mediterranean Model United Nationsconferences which are held every year and in which studentsfrom all around the world can participate. This eventallows students to debate topics and attempt to find solutionsto issues facing the world today and thus becomeaware of the need to build a common and better future forthe people of the world.It allows for students to gain public speaking abilities, organizationaland structural skills as well as becoming familiarwith the United Nations and how it is run.This year’s MEDIMUN conference placed specific importanceon topics concerning Cyber-espionage, combatingterrorist crimes, preventing de-forestation and preservingcultural heritage from the threat of globalization. Each topicwas debated extensively and various inspirational resolutionswere produced. Congratulations to the students fortheir impressive contributions.23
