The PASCAL ChronicleU15 PASCAL English School Lefkosia Futsal Tournament:Our department organized, for the first time ever, a futsal competition between all privateschools of the Nicosia district. This competition was planned to last from October until May,giving the opportunity to our students, which were selected to be part of the team, to anticipatea game against another school almost every week. Our school team, which wastrained by our P.E teachers Antonis Antonopoulos and Marios Kalapodas , consisted ofstudents from the second and third form and those were: Kyriakides A., Theophanous A.,Pengeros A., Prezas N., Jovanovic N., Erotocritou C., Ioannou P., Christofides A., IoannidesM. and Christou G. Our team had an excellent performance throughout the tournamentand managed to reach the finals. In the grand final our school played against GrammarSchool and after playing fantastic football managed to win the game and the tournament!!Congratulations to all of the above mentioned students and their coaches for winning thecup!Visit of the Fencing FederationThe Physical Education Department of Pascal English School Lefkosia in an attempt to introduceand present new objects to our students has collaborated with the Cyprus FencingFederation which visited our school. The aim of the Fencing Federation was to introducethis fairly new sport in Cyprus and attract children to get involved with new sports. Thevisit of the fencing coaches took part during the P.E lesson and lasted for about an hour.Students were taught the basic rules and movements of fencing and they had the chanceto use the relevant equipment and practise in groups of two. Students showed great interestand excitement during the presentation. The aim of the Fencing coaches is for all lowerschool forms to get to know the sport. Our department strongly supports the introductionof new sports, as part of the lesson, as our main goal is the promotion of the spirit of lifelongexercising and especially when it comes to introducing new sports where the childrenhave the opportunity not only to exercise but to get to know something new which mostprobably won’t have the opportunity to do so outside school, during their free time.PASCAL English School and PASCAL Greek School SPORTS DAYLike every other year our department successfully organized anothersports day for our students. Through the competition thestudents had the opportunity to compete in track and field eventsrepresenting their Houses and win, apart from House Points, forthe first time, medals and certificates. Judging by the participationit was another successful event organized by the Physical EducationDepartment as everything started and finished on time andall students expressed their satisfaction at the end of the day!!We aim for similar sporting competitions in the future and to become better year after yearalways having in mind our students’ satisfaction.
