This course integrates a preschool lab experience with instruction emphasizing child growth and development,responsibilities of parenthood, expectations and responsibilities of a child care aide, theories used in the study of child development,and techniques on positive discipline and guidance. Students will develop and teach lessons designed to promote the social,intellectual, emotional, and physical health and well-being of preschoolers. In addition, students will present a portfolio with entries thatdemonstrate the student's understanding of child development and parenting skills. Students taking this course may be awardedcollege credit with instructor’s approval. Students will be introduced to learning CPR.
