Online CoursesProgram Description: Corvallis Online offers several online courses to high school students within the Corvallis <strong>School</strong> District.There is no charge for a course if the course is part of the student’s regular 7 credit allocation. Courses are available on a tuition basisfor students who wish to add a course beyond the 7 credit allocation. All courses are taught by Oregon licensed teachers. There are alimited number of slots available, and first-time online students are limited to one course per semester. Students who are self-directedhave been the most successful in this online environment.Support for Online Students: Each high school has a staff member to specifically support students taking online courses. Allcourses are accessed through the web with an updated web browser. Textbooks and other required support materials are providedthrough the school’s bookroom. Attendance for online classes is mandatory until the online class is completed. Students are expectedto report to the online room during the time assigned on their schedule, and use that time to work on their online class. Students request course by indicating an interest on the school registration form.2. <strong>School</strong> counselors will determine student placement in online courses based on availability and need.(See your counselor for additional information about registering for an online class.)3. A separate registration packet, available through the counseling office, must be completed and submitted to thecounseling office for processing.Program Expectations:1. Student will attend an orientation to online courses.2. Attendance in the online classroom is required.3. Student must create and follow an 18-week course calendar.4. If grade drops below a C, the student will be called in to speak with the support staff, and parents may be notified.5. If student does not participate in the online course for 5 days, parents will be contacted. After 10 days the student may bedropped from the course.6. The drop date for online courses is two weeks after the student begins the course.
