Advanced CourseworkAdvanced Coursework & College Credit Opportunities<strong>Crescent</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> offers a variety of courses for students seeking academic challenges in grades 9-12. Studentparticipation in academically challenging courses is voluntary, although some courses require teacher approval for admission. Ingeneral, these classes require a prior mastery of language and/or mathematical skills and concepts, the ability to think abstractly andcreatively, the ability to work independently and in groups, and a serious commitment to academics. The amount of homework in thesecourses, while not always greater than regular courses, frequently demands extended preparation time beyond the classroom.Honors and Advanced Placement Courses: The following courses provide an opportunity for in-depth study beyond the demands ofthe regular college preparatory curriculum and, and in some cases, opportunities to earn college credit. By participating in College Now eligible courses, students get ahead start on tackling college-level work and making college and career decisions. The courses must be taught by <strong>Crescent</strong> <strong>Valley</strong>faculty who are approved by LBCC to teach college level courses. Students transfer these credits to other institutions bycompleting the regular transcript request procedure at LBCC, for a fee. College Now credits are accepted by all Oregon UniversitySystem (OUS) universities, as well as by many other private and out-of-state schools. Students complete the one-time College Now Participation Form online at www.linnbenton.edu/go/collegenow and pay aone-time processing fee of $25. Paper forms are also available in the Career Center.This one-time fee covers all CV courses eligible for College Now credit.2. Students shall communicate their desire for College Now credit directly to the teacher of each course. The teacher willinclude students’ names on the College Now roster for that class.3. Students must receive an A or a B to receive College Now credit. Some courses have additional requirements.4. College Now credits will post on students’ LBCC transcripts.5.
