It emphasizes fieldand laboratory experiences and offers in-depth coverage of: (1) general ecology theory; (2) principles of experimental design; (3) dataacquisition and analysis; (4) application of ecological theory to the analysis of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems; (5) basic animal andplant taxonomy; and (6) technical report writing. This course is reading and vocabulary intensive. It covers all the major body systems in depth. It emphasizes many Greek &Latin prefixes and suffixes that aid in understanding of the material. Labs include a cow eyeball dissection, blood typing, and vitalcapacity testing. There will be an integration of health issues such as: blood borne pathogens, drug use on the brain, eating disorders,birth control, and sexually transmitted infections with the corresponding chapters. This class is a must for students interested in any ofthe health and/or medical fields as their career choice.ADVANCED PLACEMENT BIOLOGY1 credit Prerequisites: Biology AND Chemistry (passed with a C or better), or teacher recommendation CVHS Credit: lab science OUS Credit: science (LBCC College Now credit in Biology 101, 102 and 103 available)AP Biology is rigorous laboratory-based college level course for highly motivated students who want to study living systems in moredetail.
