In a globalized world such as ours it is very important to knowmore than one language. Opportunities, information, and friendships that would have been closed to you because of the languagebarrier are suddenly open, and the possibilities of the international life are endless. A world language will help you learn more aboutlife in other cultures as well as traits and concerns that transcend political boundaries. In the firstyear of language study, students will learn to communicate in simple words, phrases and sentences on a variety of topics dealing withthemselves and their environment. Through skits, role plays, memorized and spontaneous dialogues, students will develop the fourlanguage skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will also begin to familiarize themselves with various aspects of theculture, geography, history, art and people of the countries where the language is spoken.
