Harvey Kaplan is a partner of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. in<br />
Kansas City, Missouri. He Chairs the firm’s Pharmaceutical and<br />
Medical Device Litigation Division and is well-known nationally and<br />
internationally for defending pharmaceutical companies. Harvey<br />
has tried and won high profile cases in many jurisdictions, involving<br />
such drugs and devices as DES, the Cu-7 IUD, the Dalkon Shield<br />
IUD, and the FenPhen diet drug combination. In 2008, Mr. Kaplan<br />
was named by Who’s Who Legal: The International Who’s Who of<br />
Business Lawyers as <strong>Product</strong> <strong>Liability</strong> Lawyer of the Year; and he<br />
was selected as the World’s Leading <strong>Product</strong> <strong>Liability</strong> Lawyer for<br />

Angela Seaton is a partner of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. in Kansas<br />
City, Missouri. She is experienced in many types of complex<br />
products liability litigation. Angela has defended manufacturers of<br />
many pharmaceutical products including prescription medications<br />
for diabetes, epilepsy, and cancer. She also has experience<br />
defending pharmaceutical manufacturers in claims involving overthe-counter<br />
medications. In law school, Angela was articles editor<br />
of the Kansas Law Review and president of her third-year class. She<br />
graduated Order of the Coif. Angela has served on the firm’s Search<br />
Committee and Diversity Committee and is a member of the SHB<br />
Women’s Management Council. She is also a member of the<br />
Defense Research Institute and the Missouri Organization of Defense<br />
