organisations to file suits for injunctive relief against enterprisers<br />

for defective products and collective dispute mediation. In July<br />

2008, a consumer association filed suit against a<br />

telecommunications company to prevent the sharing of private<br />

information of subscribers with third parties without consent. Also,<br />

in April <strong>2009</strong>, there was a news release that asbestos containing<br />

ingredients were used in baby powder of a major brand, and a<br />

consumer association is contemplating on filing suit against the<br />

Kyu Wha Lee is a senior partner and head of the corporate and M&A<br />

practice group at Lee & Ko. He has over 18 years of experience in<br />

representing multinational companies in corporate and M&A<br />

matters. As part of the corporate practice group, the product<br />

liability team led by Mr. Lee has, even before the relevant statute<br />

was introduced in Korea, been instrumental in creating some of<br />

Korea’s most critical precedents in product liability related disputes,<br />

including the explosion of a television and undue acceleration of an<br />

automobile.<br />

Mr. Lee received his LL.B. from Seoul National University, MCL from<br />

George Washington University, and J.D. from Tulane University. He<br />

was admitted to the Korean bar in 1983 and to the New York bar<br />

in 1991. He currently serves as an arbitrator for the Korean<br />

Commercial Arbitration Board.<br />

Sedong Min is a partner at Lee & Ko working primarily in the area<br />

of corporate practice. He received his LL.B from Seoul National<br />

University in 1997 and his LL.M in 2006 from Georgetown<br />

University Law Center in Washington D.C. He attended the Judicial<br />

Research and Training Institute at the Supreme Court of Korea from<br />
