What’s Around Subang
Sunway Lagoon Theme Park
Looking to let down your hair, have fun in the sun and scream
your lungs out as you brave the rides? Sunway Lagoon Theme
Park is where you should be. Offering adults and children
non-stop thrills and spills in one place, Sunway Lagoon is
the ultimate theme park experience with over 80 attractions
spread across 88 acres of land. Offering multiple attractions
from mini pools and water cannons to crazy, scream-inducing
slides, everyone – regardless of age – will grin from ear to
ear the minute he or she steps into the park. Once you decide
to demoisturise, head to the Dry Park and hop on gut-churning
attractions such as the Pirate Ship or roller coaster. Fair
warning, some of these rides are not for the faint-hearted!
Not convinced yet? Go wild and interact with the animals
at the Wildlife Park or face your fears at the Scream Park.
Whatever you fancy, Sunway Lagoon has it.
Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre
Following a full-day of fun in the theme park, travellers should walk
on over to the Sunway Pyramid Shopping mall. Equally popular
among tourists and locals, Sunway Pyramid was Malaysia’s first
themed shopping and entertainment mall of its kind. Architecturally
awe-inspiring, the Egyptian-inspired pyramid and astounding lion
standing guard at the entrance are what catches most visitors'
attention. Once inside, the mall boasts four shopping districts with
unique themes – Fashion Central, Oasis Boulevard, Asian Avenue
and Marrakesh – and shoppers are spoilt for choice via the many
speciality stores which offer countless varieties of fashion,
accessories, dining options and entertainment. The massive
shopping mall has undergone significant transformations to herald
its new shopping kingdom. Shopaholics and fashionistas can
finally indulge and pamper themselves like never before at Sunway
Pyramid - with almost four million square feet of retail extravaganza.
FRIM (Forest Research
Institute Malaysia)
Located in Kepong, FRIM is a government forest reserve which focuses
on biological, botanical and scientific study. Despite a centre for research,
FRIM also opens its doors to visitors who crave fresh jungle air without
travelling out of the city. Centred in unspoilt greenery, there are the Kepong
Botanical Gardens which exhibit local fauna – some of which are even
used for traditional medicine. Also perfect for the adventurous at heart,
there are multiple nature trails that offer glorious jungle trekking and a
Canopy Walkway which is a 150-metre long wooden path built 30
metres above the ground. The best time to visit FRIM is in the wee hours
of the morning when it is not too hot. Basic entry fees are RM5 for noncitizens
and RM1 for Malaysians. There are additional charges should
visitors choose to enter the Canopy Walkway or bring their vehicles into
the compound.
