The Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design
is designed to build on existing
skills, knowledge and understanding,
and to provide an opportunity to
explore, develop and test creativity.
The course will develop your art
and design skills across a range
of disciplines including drawing,
painting, printmaking, 3D sculpture
and graphic design*.
The course is made up of 8 units,
building towards a Final Major
Project in which you will use the
skills you have learned to produce a
self-devised final project.
Successful students will obtain a
UAL Level 2 Diploma. Students
passing the course with Merit or
above can go on to study at Level 3,
training or employment.
Opportunity is provided to study for
a qualification in English and Maths.
*NB – There are two pathways
available to applicants for L2.
Diploma in Art & Design (UAL):
‘Fine Art’ which focuses on
traditional Art techniques (i.e.
painting, drawing, sculpture etc)
and ‘Design’ which places more
emphasis on software-based work.
The Level 3 Extended Diploma
in Creative Media Production
and Technology is a practical,
work-related course. You learn by
completing projects that are based
on realistic workplace situations,
activities and demands. This course
is designed to help you develop the
skills you need to start a career in
the media production industries.
Over the course of 2 years, you
will develop a portfolio covering a
range of specialist production areas,
including; Single Camera Video
Production, Multi Camera Studio
Production, Digital Photography,
Stop Motion Animation, Print
Production.
In Year 1, you are enrolled on the
90 Credit Diploma (equivalent to
1.5 A levels). Once you have passed
all year 1 units, you are able to
progress to Year 2 to complete the
full Extended Diploma.
The full Extended Diploma is
equivalent to three A levels; when
you have finished the course you
can choose whether to go into
higher education or employment.
Opportunity is provided to study for
a qualification in English and Maths.
This course is designed to
encourage a broad approach to
photography. It will allow you
to develop a sound grounding
in lens based and experimental
photography. It encourages the
exploration of materials, processes
and techniques.
