The study programme consists of<br />

units such as; The Engineered World,<br />

Investigating an Engineered Product,<br />

Introduction to Communications for<br />

Engineering, Health and Safety in<br />

Engineering, Interpreting and Using<br />

Engineering Information, Electronic<br />

Circuit Design and Construction. The<br />

completion of the recommended<br />

units of study will provide the<br />

learner with a recognised BTEC<br />

electronics qualification.<br />

Access to HE (Diploma<br />

in Engineering)<br />

The main aim of this course is<br />

to prepare students for study at<br />

university. Students will receive<br />

subject specific study skills<br />

preparation, as well as tuition in<br />

subjects that are relevant to their<br />

chosen degree course.<br />

This particular pathway is designed<br />

for anyone wanting to progress into<br />

a career in engineering.<br />

This qualification has a<br />

predominantly practical approach<br />

to assessment, and includes many<br />

visual questioning techniques,<br />

which will stimulate and interest the<br />

learner.<br />

The qualifications combination of<br />

units provides learners with the<br />

flexibility in the choice of the areas<br />

they wish to develop their knowledge<br />

and skills in.<br />

Progression<br />

This Certificate is ideal for those<br />

learners who wish to undertake a<br />

qualification which will support their<br />

progress into the retail motor vehicle<br />

industry and to a Level 4 BTEC<br />

HNC/HND. It can also supplement<br />

their progress to service and other<br />

appropriate destinations, such as<br />

the Institute of the Motor Industry<br />

Sector Skills Council (IMI SSC)<br />

Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level<br />

2, or employment.<br />
