This course is for anyone interested<br />
in developing their design skills to<br />
a professional level and preparing<br />
their portfolio for industry or<br />
continuing their education with a<br />
top-up third year on an appropriate<br />
BA (Hons) course (e.g. graphic<br />
design, illustration, animation,<br />
web design/interactive design,<br />
advertising, games design etc.).<br />
The course will help you gain the<br />
theoretical, analytical, creative,<br />
technical skills and professional<br />
insights to become a successful<br />
designer, through exploring<br />
traditional and digital media,<br />
investigating communication issues<br />
and the history and contexts of<br />
design.<br />
This course is designed for<br />
progression to University and/or<br />
progression into industry. Once you<br />
have completed your studies, there<br />
is a wide range of careers open<br />
to you. The nature of your career<br />
options depend on which area of the<br />
visual communication industries you<br />
choose to specialise in.<br />

This course is for you if you have<br />
a strong interest in learning more<br />
about how the media is constructed<br />
to forward particular points of view<br />
and produce certain meanings, and<br />
wish to gain experience of creating<br />
your own web pages and printed<br />
materials.<br />
Studying on this course will allow<br />
you to:<br />
• Draw on various theoretical<br />
approaches when analysing<br />
a range of media forms (i.e.<br />
websites, film, TV, newspapers,<br />
magazines, games, advertisements<br />
etc)<br />
• Create your own media products<br />

This course mixes theoretical<br />
and practical approaches to<br />
learning about the media. No prior<br />
experience of Media Studies is<br />
necessary but basic computer skills<br />
and a creative, enquiring attitude<br />
are necessary.<br />
