Zika virus is one of the members of<br />
the Flaviviridae virus and genus<br />
Flavivirus family.<br />
It is a mosquito born disease,<br />
which is transmitted by Aedes<br />
mosquitoes, such as A. aegypti<br />
and A. Albopictus. They are<br />
active in daytime. Zika name<br />
comes from the Zika Forest<br />
of Uganda. The virus was first<br />
isolated during 1947 in this<br />
forest. Zika virus is related<br />
to dengue, West Nile virus,<br />
yellow fever, and Japanese<br />
encephalitis.<br />
Before 2015, Zika virus<br />
outbreaks occurred in areas of<br />
Africa, the Pacific Islands and<br />
the Southeast Asia. The Pan<br />
American Health Organization<br />
(PAHO) issued an alert, when,<br />
the first case of Zika virus<br />
reported in Brazil during May<br />
2015. At present, there are<br />
many countries, where the virus<br />
outbreaks are occurring. As per<br />
the WhO, nations and territories<br />
including, Brazil, Colombia,<br />
Barbados, Bolivia, Dominican<br />
Republic, Ecuador, El<br />
Salvador, Guiana, Guadeloupe,<br />
Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras,<br />
French Guyana, Martinique,<br />
Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto<br />
Ric, Venezuela, Saint Martin,<br />
Mexico, Paraguay, the U.S.<br />
