| Focus on The Ambulance Services Charity Ambulance Leaders Support TASC An auction at the UK’s leading conference for senior ambulance personnel raised nearly £1,500 for a Coventry-based charity. TASC, The Ambulance Services Charity, attended the 2016 Ambulance Leadership Forum (ALF) for the first time since they were formed last March. The UK-wide charity helps to provide vital advice and support services to both serving and retired ambulance staff and their families. TASC Chairman Cliff Randall, Trustees Roy Norris and Mick Webb, and Director of Support Services Jean Hayes attended the annual conference at the Hinckley Island Hotel for senior ambulance staff and their colleagues from the NHS and academic institutions to network and hear presentations about topics affecting the UK’s ambulance service leaders. Over 200 delegates attended the two-day event which included a gala dinner and charity auction with £1,385 raised for TASC from the generous guests. The charity obtained a number of prizes including two hospitality tickets for a future Wasps match at the Ricoh Arena, a Land Rover Tour and Experience Day for two guests from Jaguar Land Rover Community Relations, an iPad Mini featuring the brand new ‘iCPG’ 2016 Ambulance Clinical Practice Guidelines app generously donated by Class Professional Publishing, a limited edition aviation print from SWA Fine Art Publications and two limited edition Maglite torches from SP Services. The TASC team also signed-up a number of TASC supporters to continue raising the profile and funds for the UK’s only charity From the left, Jean Hayes, Roy Norris, Mik Webb and Cliff Randall from TASC at the 2016 Ambulance Leadership Forum solely focused on those working in the ambulance industry. Cliff said: “There is no doubt this is a challenging time for ambulance personnel because of the demand on the service and the presentations at the conference certainly provided some lively debates. “Attending the Ambulance Leadership Forum was an ideal opportunity to spread the message further about our work among senior personnel in the ambulance sector as well as raise a significant amount of money to continue making a difference. “The proceeds from the auction will help TASC to provide grants for rehabilitation services to help those recovering from work-related injuries, long-term illnesses or surgery, provide support to help people suffering with stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following traumatic incidents at work, and bereavement support. “We signed-up a number of TASC supporters during the conference including Dr Anthony Marsh, chief executive of West Midlands Ambulance Service, Ken Wenman, the chief executive of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Hilary Pillin, who is a consultant in healthcare response. “Their backing, along with all our other supporters, is vital in ensuring we provide the support colleagues need in times of crisis, bereavement, severe difficulty or urgent need.” For information about becoming a TASC member or supporter, please visit: www.theAsc.org.uk You can also call +44 (0)2477 987 922 or the free TASC Support Line on +44 (0)800 1032 999 Spring 2016 | Ambulancetoday 85 3
