The nitrogen as well as forging and cold forming increases the tensile strength to values above 2000 N/ mm2 without reducing the toughness and it improves the corrosion resistance. Other attributes of P2000 are a high degree of cleanliness and also a fine and homogeneous structure. These features lead to excellent polishing results and outstanding resistance to mechanical damage like scratches or high spot loads. (www.hempel-metals.com) FORT WAYNE METALS OFFERS PERMANENT MARKING OF THEIR CENTERLESS GROUND BAR March 11, 2016, FORT WAYNE, INDIANA, USA – Fort Wayne Metals has announced that they now have the capability to mark their centerless ground bar product. “In a world where traceability is becoming more and more important, we consider this to be an important service,” states Ric Snyder, Orthopaedic Product Manager. “It will allow our customers to positively identify each piece of centerless ground bar they purchase from Fort Wayne Metals.” Prior to offering this service, the company conducted extensive research into different methods of bar marking, ultimately settling on inkjet printing because it does not alter the mechanical properties of the material. “Our customers rely on us for the tight control of the mechanical properties of our material,” explains Snyder. “It was important to us that marking the bars would not alter these properties in the slightest.” Marking is available on all sizes of centerless ground bar. Fort Wayne Metals manufactures bar products from stainless steel, cobalt-chrome and nitinol, as well as CP and alloyed titanium. Sizes range from 0.039” (1 mm) to 0.550” (14 mm), with tolerances as tight as +/- 0.0001” (h5).
