Chief Kreitman has 36 years’ experience in the fire service beginning<br />
his career as a firefighter in Albany, OR. He was Fire Chief with the City<br />
of Albany from 1999 until accepting the Fire Chief’s job with the City of<br />
Redding, CA in Sept. 2008. Kreitman developed significant experience<br />
during his time in Albany dealing with the numerous metal industries<br />
handling materials that presented unique fire hazards. Based on those<br />
hazards, Kreitman wrote a paper on the proper handling of titanium and<br />
zirconium metal fires.<br />
He’s a member of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)<br />
Combustible Metals committee and has been active in the standard<br />
process with emphasis on the development of the Fire Prevention, Fire<br />
Protection and Emergency Response Chapters. He has written articles<br />
on dust & combustible metal hazards and conducted presentations at<br />
national conferences; he has assisted NFPA and the National Institutes<br />
for Occupational Safety and Health on investigations and publications<br />
dealing with combustible metal hazards, and was an author of the<br />
Combustible Metals chapter in NFPA’s recent 9th Edition of the Fire &<br />
Life Safety Inspection Manual.
