Beyond entertainment, France has a growing industry in terms of brands and, in some cases, heritage brands such as museums and landmarks. Arboresens started working with the Hall of Paris back in 2013 and is the agent for the Paris City brands including the Velib brand and Ptit Velib brand for kids. Across these brands the company sells more than 200 products in 500 retail outlets. Paris Musée, which groups 14 Paris City museums together has also initiated a licensing and co-branding program.The Carnavalet Museum (museum of the History of Paris), The Catacombes, the Museum of Modern Art, the Petit Palais or the Palais Galliera (fashion museum of Paris) are all part of Paris Musées and attract more than 3 million visitors per year. In close collaborations with the Paris Musées and museum curators, Arboresens has written the brand platform for these museums and determined which of them would be part of the brand extension strategy through licensing and/or co-branding, which is a very different approach from products developed for the museum shops. No spotlight on France would be complete without a look at a leading licensee. Lansay is a family owned company founded in 1972 focusing on the toys and game business. They carry a wide number of Disney licenses covering key categories such as arts and craft (Princess, Frozen, Star Wars, Soy Luna, Vaiana and Descendants) in addition to Peppa Pig, Noddy and Trolls. In the boys category, Lansay distributes Character’s line of Scooby Doo action figures and playsets and will launch the Twirlywoos line from Golden Bear as French master toy licensee this year. In the electronic toys category, Lansay are manufacturing microphones featuring The Voice. Lansay is currently the 14th toy company in France, according to NPD, and the only independent in the top 15 toy companies in the country. Smiley also continues to champion its Taste Happiness concept as it looks forward to the launch of numerous exciting Smiley food ranges in France. FRANCE The 13th edition of Kazachok will take place on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 April. Following the successful move to the Paris Event Centre in Porte de la Villette Paris, this year’s event will return to the Paris Centre. The different ingredients of Kazachok’s Licensing Forum’s continue to grow. Everything is aimed at maximizing the schedules of visitors as well as exhibitors to create more business opportunities by meeting new potential partners. Exhibitors have access to visitors’ details in order to set up appointments.
