HOME AND AWAY BUILDS UP TO ANNIVERSARY
In a build-up towards its 30th anniversary, Seven Network Australia has appointed
Licensing Link in the UK to represent long-running TV show Home and Away.
Commenting on the appointment, Kate Green, licensing manager at Seven Network
Australia, said, “Home and Away has a loyal TV audience in Great Britain
and Ireland – fans have grown up escaping to the iconic beach at Summer Bay
and new generations since are attracted to the Aussie beach lifestyle.
We are excited to partner with Licensing Link to bring to life the Home and
Away brand beyond the screen for the first time with a fantastic new style guide.
It’s summer everyday in Summer Bay and that summer feeling is exactly what we
will be bringing to the UK market.”
For the first time, a style guide has also been developed for Home and Away to
help support the licensing programme.
Licensing Link will focus on developing lifestyle products including ranges of
clothing, giftware, stationary and, of course, beach products.
Chris Taday and Ian Wickham from Licensing Link, commented, “Home and Away
is an iconic TV programme in the UK and we are delighted that Network Seven
has appointed us to handle the licensing programme. We look forward to working
with them over the next few years.”
Home and Away ichronicles the lives, loves, happiness, and heartbreaks of the
residents of Summer Bay, an idyllic small coastal town in New South Wales. It has
been produced in Sydney since July 1987 and has aired on the Seven Network
since January 17 1988. In 2014, Home and Away was Seven Network’s No. 1
weekly Australian drama series winning its 7.00pm timeslot across total Individuals
and key demographics. Home and Away has seen many former cast members
move on to international careers including Heath Ledger, Chris Hemsworth,
Ryan Kwanten, Isla Fisher, Julian McMahon, Simon Baker, Guy Pearce, Naomi
DANGER MOUSE TO AIR ON ABC
FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment has recently announced a significant
swathe of free-to-air TV sales for its top rating and critically acclaimed new series
of Danger Mouse in key regions including France, Australia and the Middle East.
The new free-to-air broadcast deals include ABC in Australia, Channel 4 in New
Zealand, the Lagardere channels in France, RTE in Ireland and MBC in the Middle
East. These markets are in addition to the multi-territory Netflix deal which
launches in the Americas and other territories in Spring.
These international sales follow the huge consumer impact made by the resurgence
of the world’s greatest secret agent Danger Mouse when he returned to UK
screens after a 23-year absence. Bursting onto CBBC with a 21st Century gadgetpacked,
gag-laden makeover in September, the animated comedy action series got
off to an amazing start.
Joss Duffield, VP Global Distribution FMK said, “Danger Mouse’s mission was to
thrill a whole new generation of viewers and we’re delighted that he’s not only
doing that in the UK but is also set to make a much-anticipated comeback on
the global stage too.
These deals with
prestigious, free-toair
partners show
that the high action,
high comedy adventures
of this quintessentially
British
character and his allies
and adversaries
are really striking a
chord with audiences
across the world.”
