Twitter
Same thing with Twitter. Make sure that,
when you’re interacting with employers,
your tweets are professional, clean,
not too controversial and written in the
Queen’s English, not text speak. Twitter’s
also great for searching for jobs that
might pop up at any time and following
companies to see what they’re up to.
Engage with recruiters and ask questions.
You can also do this with the UK’s best
employers on #PlacementChat, so check
it out. Remember, be concise and always,
always polite.
Follow @RateMyPlacement for the
latest job updates, application tips and
competitions.
Linkedin
If you don’t have an account, get one.
Simple as that. This is like your online
CV, and if an employer searches for you
to see what your online presence is like,
a good LinkedIn page can make you
stand out really well. Keep it professional
though – this isn’t a place for cat pictures
or random status updates. It’s a place
for connecting with industry experts and
making yourself look like a pro, so use it
and use it wisely!
Search on LinkedIn for the
RateMyPlacement group - it’s full of
like-minded students and undergraduate
recruiters - just remember to have a
smart profile picture!
