I joined Lloyds in Newcastle, after I<br />
finished school. I’ve worked throughout<br />
Customer Service, Sales, HR and Change<br />
Management. Now I work in Credit<br />
Operations, supporting colleagues to deliver<br />
the best outcomes to customers in financial<br />
difficulty.<br />
Why your industry?<br />
Financial services are a part of everyone’s<br />
life; whether it be getting money from a cash<br />
point, buying your first home, or getting<br />
travel insurance for your dream holiday.<br />
What I enjoy is that it’s a people business<br />
focused on learning and development, so<br />
we can help Britain prosper.<br />

What is your top tip for working in this<br />
industry?<br />
Develop your skills of building great<br />
relationships with others, know what you<br />
enjoy doing, and work towards a role that<br />
allows you to flourish.<br />
What differentiates your industry from<br />
others?<br />
<strong>The</strong> career opportunities in banking are<br />
vast, and it’s a meritocracy. I’ve worked in<br />
branches, within Insurance, Finance and<br />
Audit, helped set up operational units, and<br />
been part of the teams delivering major<br />
change programmes. <strong>The</strong> professionalism<br />
and capability of my colleagues is always<br />
inspiring.<br />
What do you enjoy most about your<br />
industry?<br />
<strong>The</strong> opportunity to make a difference to<br />
the people around me – whether that be<br />
customers by finding ways we can serve<br />
them better; or colleagues by giving them<br />
the opportunity to bring their ‘true self’ to<br />
work.<br />
What advice would you give to others<br />
considering a career in your industry?<br />
Research the industry and, understand what<br />
the company you are looking at, is about.<br />
