What was the interview process like?
The interview process consisted of a
general interview involving a case study
scenario with a Partner and a member
of the HR team followed by a group
exercise. For what is usually a nerveracking
experience, I was made to feel
very welcome and at ease.
What did you most enjoy about your
role?
Being given the chance to sit in both
Corporate Finance and Real Estate was
extremely interesting as I could discover
two completely different areas of law. The
level of responsibility I was given was
also very rewarding, if a little daunting at
first.
“Everyone is extremely welcoming
and there are a number of law
and non-law related activities
which are great to get involved
in.”
How much responsibility were you
given?
I was given a large amount of
responsibility in both seats and undertook
tasks similar to those completed by
trainees. This mainly involved legal
research and proofreading. Despite this
responsibility I felt able to ask for advice
and guidance.
What advice would you give to
someone applying for your role?
My main piece of advice would be to
enjoy the experience as much as you
can. Everyone is extremely welcoming
and there are a number of law and nonlaw
related activities which are great to
get involved in. Finally, just be yourself
and smile!
What has been your biggest
challenge?
Having studied Modern Languages, at
times I felt as though I were learning
another new language with all the legal
terms which were completely alien to
me! However my supervisors were
understanding and extremely helpful in
answering my questions.
Describe your biggest achievement?
I was particularly proud of the fact that
by the end of my vacation scheme I was
entrusted by my supervisor to carry out
research which was then sent straight to
clients. This made me feel like my work
was valued.
@RateMyPlacement I loved my
vacation scheme at @TaylorWessing. Had
a great experience at a very friendly and
welcoming firm.
